NEWS: Be inspired by ‘Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World’ – Milton Keynes Theatre, January 2024

Family musical Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World will bring some kick-ass-pirational popstar punch to Milton Keynes Theatre this month.

When inquisitive Jade is separated from her class during a school trip to the local museum she ventures into the out-of-bounds Gallery of Greatness. Here she is surprised to meet some of history’s most incredible and independent mothers, sisters and daughters.

This line-up of wonder women – who each followed their hearts, talents and dreams to change the world – includes Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, Marie Curie and Emmeline Pankhurst. It’s time for them to burst into song and share their empowering stories!

Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World is based on a popular non-fiction picture book by illustrator, author and suffragette descendant Kate Pankhurst. The book, which was published in 2016 by Bloomsbury, was the first instalment in her inspiring Fantastically Great series. Dramatist Chris Bush (Standing At The Sky’s Edge) and songwriter Miranda Cooper (Girls Aloud, Kylie Minogue) have adapted the book into a stage show with music by Miranda Cooper and Jennifer Decilveo (Miley Cyrus, Beth Ditto).

The show is produced by Kenny Wax. He also produced Six, the international smash-hit musical in which history is over-throne by her-story. With its pop-fuelled, feel-good feminist vibe, perhaps Fantastically Great could be thought of as Six’s little sister.

Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World had its world premiere at MAST Mayflower Studios, Southampton, in November 2021. This was followed by a UK tour with summer seasons at Theatre Royal Stratford East and Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2022.

The cast members for the current tour are: Elena Breschi (Sacagawea, Frida Kahlo and Marie Curie), Jennifer Caldwell (Emmeline Pankhurst, Agent Fifi and Miss Johnson), Georgia Grant-Anderson (Jade), Chlöe Hart (Gertrude Ederle, Jane Austen and Mary Anning), Leah Vassell (Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks and Mary Seacole), Millie Kiss (Ensemble), Summer Priest (Swing), Rachel Seirian (Swing).

They are accompanied by: Audra Cramer (Musical director and Keys 1), Nicola T. Chang (Assistant musical director, Percussion and Keys 2) and Iris Dunthorne (Drums).

Expect an uplifting stage show full of incredible characters.
