My name is Georgina Butler and I’m a dance devotee.
Welcome! You’ve stumbled across the online space I use to share my thoughts, experiences and achievements.
“Georgina Butler” is the byline used on the pieces I write as a journalist and dance writer but I’m also known as “Georgie” or “George” to friends and colleagues, and I’m “Miss Georgie” to my dance students.
Dancing has been my escape, my education and my entertainment since I was two-and-a-half years old. I literally don’t know life without ballet classes, I struggle to comprehend why you can’t touch your toes and I wish there was more dance shown on television!
When I’m not dancing or watching dance, I’m writing. I’ve always been a wordsmith and, coupled with my thirst for knowledge, this flair for writing has afforded me success in both academic and journalistic endeavours.
My major interests seemingly haven’t changed much since childhood but I have certainly worked to refine my skills over the years. I always try my best and have fulfilled a few rather significant ambitions so far.
What do I do when I’m not dancing, writing or striving to educate and inspire the dancers and audience members of the future? Well, that’s when I sleep!
Otherwise, I enjoy reading, going to the theatre and painting my nails. As those who know me well will attest, I do have a sizeable nail polish collection. This makes choosing a colour a challenge. It’s certainly not unusual to see me sporting an accent finger so I can wear two colours at once, or changing my polish a few times in a week! I also hanker after dancewear and stationery I don’t really need. In fact, I currently have my eye on a few beautiful (yet not strictly essential) ballet skirts.
I hope you enjoy browsing my website. I’m fortunate to have worked with some incredibly talented people, some of whom I met online, and I’m always keen to connect with more like-minded souls!
